So this past saturday, I swam in the YMCA open water swim at Lake Oneida. a 800m swim, just like what i'll be doing in the Irongirl. I didn't really know what to expect since i've never swam in any race before. It was very interesting... not as cold as i thought it'd be. a couple of times, people tried to swim over me. i think it was because they had wetsuits and i didn't!!!
here are the results. I was pretty excited that i got 9th place!!! but then, a little dissappointed because i know in the pool i can beat this time with a stick...

but i suppose i should just be happy with how i did. I was going more for the experience of open water swimming than to get a super awesome time. so I guess I walked away sucessful!
Next time, i'll swim the 1500.

That's awesome!!! I'm thinking that swimming in a straight line in the lake/ocean is really hard. There's no lanes to guide you, so that's really excellent. Actually I think I would swim off course in the lake hahaha
ReplyDelete9th out of 33? That's REALLY GREAT!
ReplyDeleteWow Liz, you did great!! I'm so impressed! Open water swimming is not easy. It sounds like you picked it up very quickhly though. I can't wait for you to do Irongirl!
